About Us

Mission Statement
New Life Church English Ministry is committed to develop INTIMATE, PASSIONATE,  and RADICAL Kingdom builders.

Vision Statement
The vision of New Life Church English Ministry is to proclaim and demonstrate the love and the power of God, so that people encounter & stay in love with God, follow Jesus Christ passionately & radically, experience the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit, and become Kingdom builders.

Core Values: We desire that people will...

1. Experience God: through worship & prayer by welcoming, entering into, and passionately pursuing God’s presence to intimately connect to God and love what God loves and hate what He hates.

2. Grow in the Biblical Truths: through reading, studying, memorizing, communicating, and obeying the truths learned from the Bible, which is the very Word of God that changes people’s lives.

3. Belong to the Community of Christ: through loving, caring, and serving God and one another by discovering, exercising, and developing spiritual gifts God has given to every follower of Jesus Christ for the purpose of building up the Church, the body of Christ.

4. Restore Intergenerational Relationships: through intentional partnership with the parent generation in the areas of spiritual formation, worship & prayer, and the world mission.

5. Build up God’s Kingdom: both locally and globally through evangelism, compassion and mercy ministry, community development, social justice, and the world mission.

Our History
New Life Church of Chicago, a non-denominational Korean immigrant church, started in the summer of 2001 under the leadership of Rev. James Chun Chang. The church only had children’s & youth ministries and college groups during the summer break.

As the church grew older, it produced many more college students and the young adults. In the fall of 2009, the church leaders decided to launch an English speaking ministry, where the Americanized adult children of these immigrants could worship in English.  This ministry reaches out not only to Korean-American young adults, but also to anyone who speaks English and wants to belong to this community.

On May 23, 2010, the New Life Church English Ministry began with a mission of making radical, passionate, and intimate lovers of Christ, who are building God’s Kingdom locally and globally.
